The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbates existing health, economic and educational inequities in the Latino community. During the initial months of the pandemic, Latinos, who work in essential services and have less access to healthcare, comprised a disproportionate share of infections in Placer County. Families working in the restaurant industry lost their employment, and school closures widened the education gap for those with limited online access.
