The LLC was formed in 2007 to provide feedback on Latino populations’ needs to two Placer County initiatives: The Children’s System of Care federal SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) grant, which focuses on improving mental health services for Latino children and families; and the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA), which focuses on providing preventive and other mental health services to Latinos and other unserved and underserved populations.
During this time, we have not only contributed to each grant’s understanding of Latino culture and needs, but we have also developed partnerships with other service providers in order to improve their cultural competence, to secure funding to enhance Latino programs and to serve as a resource on the needs of the Latino culture.
